so did dark knight beat spiderman 3' record?

Dark Knight won.

"'The Dark Knight' took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend, topping the previous best of $151.1 million for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007 and pacing Hollywood to its biggest weekend ever, according to studio estimates Sunday."

EXCLUSIVE: Though they won't dare discuss this in public, I'm told that Warner Bros bigwigs are hoping for between $160 million and $170 million for Batman: The Dark Knight as 3-day weekend total gross from a record 4,366 North American theaters despite a 152 minute running time. Now that may be impossible, and a huge increase from the $130 million that the studio bosses were expecting earlier in the week, but anything over $100 million is going to be considered a humongous success.

Predictions were around 105-110. That was being slightly conservative.

It made more money but I know for a fact a lot of California theaters have raised ticket prices since then seeing as how minimum wage went up $1.00
