SMS vs. EMAIL

once upon a time, I used to be able to send emails from a phone and i would not get charged for it.

1) Now that i have a blackberry, can users from other networks send me emails without getting charged by their providers?

I know i have the data plan for email and such but sms is really expensive if you dont have a plan for it set.

2) Will a user get charged the same as SMS for sending an EMAIL(to any network)?

trying to avoid paying alot between me, friends, relatives. thanks.

1. with the data plan YOU will not be charged for the # of emails you send or receive, so long as it's the 19.99 BB data plan. I cannot say what folks with other carriers will get charged for sending emails to you via their cell phones. that has to do with those peoples plans with their carriers.

2. with TMO you have to buy a SMS/MMS text plan if you do not want to get charged out the ear for those types of messages.

BB Users can for sure. I know with Cing you can send an sms/email to a mobile number has same limitations as text mess(only 160 characters) and has an email address a mile long(used to be phone [email protected], but i am sure the changed it since the name change), but still charges like sms.Hopefully they have a plan or it's .15 each way! Hope that helps.
