SMS upgrade to v6.2

Downloaded SMS v6.2. The instructions call for deleting all the old 6.1 files and it provides a list of same. In attempting to do so I first moved SMS to RAM from flash. No problem. Then I attempted to delete them using Uninstall. Then went back to clean up any missed and several (12 to be exact) say they are in ROM and cannot be deleted or changed. Consequently, I don?t think the v6.2 installed as it still calls itself 6.1. What am I missing and thanks.

I have a T3 and I just looked at the SMS app and it is at v. 4.5.1P. I did a search at PalmOne and at PalmGear for 'SMS' and didn't find anything the seemed relevant. I would be interested to know how you got to v6.1.

I think the SMS app leaves a lot to be desired, and the ones from PalmGear that I've evaluated weren't very good either.

4 elements of SMS are in flash, totalling around 75k (quick math). They were never removed by me using JackSprat, nor are they available to remove on the Sprat menu.

By moving a newer version to flash, then backing out to delete/upgrade, you never touched the original 4 elements:

SMS 36k
SMS Library 29k
SMS Library_en US 4,287
SMS_enUS 6,451

I also saw 2 in RAM: SMSdb (0 bytes on mine) and SMS LIb data (also 0 bytes).

That's all I can tell you - they were in there from the start and as far as I know, undeletable.

Anything you put in flash with jackFlash can re removed from flash. Anything you can't was in there anyway.

I am wondering if we are talking about the same thing. Some things apply and some??? I am talking about SMS (Scripture Memory System). My current version is 6.1 and there is a newer 6.2 I downloaded, I think from freewarepalm.com, or wherever.

Does that change any of the answers above. If not I am home free, just delete the old one and install the new. The instructions say to delete the old program and the files left behind, even to giving a list of the files to delete. That is where I am getting the message referred to in the original post above.

Thanks a lot, and hope this clarifies any misunderstanding about the request above.

Also, when I try to install the new one, it gives the same message about being unable to replace the old files d/t their being in ROM. I guess I have to ask the authors,??? Unless y'all have any ideas or suggestions.

I?m getting tired of saying Well Duh!!! All I had to do was delete them with JackFlash not Filez and bingo. Thanks for all the help, and I probably never would have thought of it without your helpful assistance. Again THE Forum Rocks!!!
