SMS timestamp incorrect.

Hi,

I'm currently having an issue with sms timestamps on the device and I hope someone can help me resolve it.

When I send a message, it goes out with the correct timestamp, when I receive one though it is 4 hours behind. This happens on anyone who sends me a SMS.

My emails, IM's all work fine and have the correct timestamp all around.

Anyone have this issue?

Hmmm, Ok. I'm currently on an unlocked (T-mobile Branded) version of the phone with Rogers/Fido carrier (Canadian carrier). it was not doing this on my previous phone either though.

I've filed a bug report... (I borrowed some of your text flixxx hope you don't mind)

Yup, ditto here. Mines only an hour difference, but its still annoying as hell. Apparently it's an issue with Rogers in Canada. Many people have contacted them about it, and they acknowledge the issue, but who knows if they'll actually do anything.

I'm having the same problem (incoming messages with timestamps 5 hours behind) on my HTC Hero that I bought from Telus and had it unlocked. I'm using Fido so I contacted them and there is nothing they're willing to do about it. Apparently it could be fixed if they did an over-the-air-update on their SIM cards with a new network code (MNC), because they're using the Rogers MNC for their 3G networks. So whenever I'm connected to a 3G network it says I'm roaming when I'm actually not. The roaming issue supposedly is the reason why the timestamps come in wrong, because other users (Telus or Sprint) only get the timestamp problem when they're roaming from their home networks.

Anyway, so I talked to HTC about it and this is what the guy said:

"Since your device is unlocked from a different carrier and placed on Fido the Network services may not operate with the correct functionality. The Band Wave Frequencies that are built into the Operating System of the device are made for the specific region from where the device was purchased. Currently there is not an option to correct the timestamps on your text messages since the device was not made for that carrier."

So I'm guessing it can be fixed with a new android update? I don't know... does anyone have any suggestions to solve this issue with the HTC Hero?

Download either of these two apps or try them both. They are specifically developed for this bug. Either look in Android Market or AppBrain for "smstimefix" and "smsfixtimes". Either should fix your problem.

I upgraded to froyo (android 2.2) last night, and it fixed the issue for me!

Process could have been easier (had a few driver issues) but I got through it.
