I have just bought an mx3 1.6 which was supposed to have had a new headgasket and stem valve seals. There is a massive amount of smoke coming from the exhaust when cold which dissapears after about 5 miles of use. Took it to a mechanic who said head gasket hasnt gone but it did have a bad oil leak which has now been rectified. Still getting smoke though. No loss of water, no overheating, drives well, only other noticeable is an erratic idle when hot. Smoke is white, possibley grey at times but there is a lot, too much embarassing to drive. Apart from this it is a good car 1998 reg so I dont really want to give up on her. Any ideas or solutions?
