Smoke coming out of pull start on atv?

On my 96' yamaha atv engine after riding for an hour or so there is white smoke coming out of the plate which the pull start is connected to right beside the gear selector foot thingy...what does this mean?

There is no clutch on this model you just kick up to switch gears.
