Hi everyone,

I am having problems with the conversion TXT->SMO. When I paste a large txt file into my phone's memory (Siemens S45) the file is converted properly but chopped into short messages 160 symbols each (just the length of an SMS).

Is there any convertor that does not chop the resulting .smo file?

I don't think so. All long text messages consist of chopped 160 messages - if you send them you pay for each message. Concatenated messages are only displayed as one big message. I don't know how S45(i) saves long messages regularly but I think it's several 160 messages with a special unique number, so it can be displayed as one message.

I know that One SMS is limited only to 160 characters. My point is that I write a txt file of, say, 1600 characters. Then I send it to the SMS folder in my mobile and it is chopped into 10 messages.
Then I want to work on the text while travelling and after that send all the text (10 SMSs) and it is VERY inconvenient to have 10 different files when editing the whole text.
I don't need the feature for chopping the whole text when copying it to my mobile. But it is done automatically and I cannot turn this off.

if you are using DataExchangeSoftware you can disable Convertion option from menu.

But if I disable conversion, I cannot read and edit the text, which is certainly much worse than having 10 SMSs which you can read and edit.

@konstantinlozev:
Can you tell me: if you create a long messages (>160 chars) on your S45 and save it, do you have only one great .smo file or is it already chopped? If it's one great file, can you attach it here, just an example with > 160 chars? Please add the info how many chars you wrote. Then I could have a look at it.
But don't hurry. I can't look at it before next wednesday...

No, when I write on my mobile, the file is not chopped and I find it much more convenient to work with the whole text and when I copy the file on my PC it still remains one file (no matter if conversion is on/off).
I have made some efforts to fix the chopping, but none of those worked:
1. I tried to find a converter which converts .txt to .smo (I read the only difference is the codepage)
2. I did this:
- I copied the big .txt file to my mobile and after being chopped and converted,
- I copied the small .smo files back to my PC, this time with no conversion, then
- used a universal joining programme (MWSE Split) which joined the .smo files in the order they were chopped by the converter
- copied the joined .smo file back to my PC with no conversion
- I COULD READ ONLY THE TEXT OF THE FIRST SMS NO MATTER THAT THE SIZE OF THE FILE WAS 10 TIMES BIGGER
- I suppose that is because the converter provided with the Data Exchange Software writes something at the end of every SMS that indicates the end of an SMS
