Smart phone w/o data?

Just wondering if I can activate and use a smartphone on verizon without paying any aditional data or w/e? Thanks, and if it matters the phones I'm considering are the Moto Q and the SMT5800

Yes you can purchase an SMT5800 without a data plan. You just have to explicitly tell them when your activating your phone that you don't want one. Also you can have them block it so that you won't be charged if you accidentally use it. Best of luck in choosing your phone!

Ok how about the xv6700 can I get that w/o the data? I think at this point with how I keep changing my mind it would be easier to say are there any smartphones that I need to pay for the data (or any other additional charges) to use? And what do you guys know about the 6700 is it any good? I like it cus I can get it cheap and cus its got wifi.

Here I'll set this straight:

1) ANY Verizon-branded SMARTPHONE/PDA Phone not manufactured from Blackberry can be used on the Verizon Network without a data plan.
2) If you purchase a verizon-branded blackberry, you HAVE to get a data plan.

So the XV6700, the XV6800/Mogul, the SMT5800, etc does NOT require that you have a data plan.

Cheers,
Jim
