Before you read this, I am not full of myself or egotistical. I just chose this job, because I wanted a challenge in my life as well as serving my country. See, I'm a romantic in the way I view battle. Call my crazy, but I also envisioned being a knight or something. That's just who I am.
But, I'm receiving scrutiny because I dropped out of college (21 years old with 50ish hours done) and enlisted in the Army as an infantryman...basically I'm getting the scrutiny because I grew up in upper -middle class suburbia and did well in high school. The problem is I lost direction in college, and ran out of money and was collecting debt. (My parents weren't going to support me if I were not going anywhere with college...and thats fair). But, I scored a 92 on my ASVAB and was being recruited by the Air Force, and the Navy. But, like I said I want a challenge.
I am a tough kid though...had to earn everything I got in life. I have very thick skin, and am in great shape. But, everyone is saying I'm going to be the smartest one out there and everyone is going to single me out. I don't think this is true because I've met guys doing infantry who speak well, and carry themselves in a very good manor. Why is it that people always look at the Army infantry as being dumb, toothless losers? I mean, I'm sure there are your cases of that but for the most part you have to have some smarts to succeed at front-line combat.
