Sliced on History Channel...Worst programme ever

Watched a programme called Sliced on the History Channel.
This has to be the most pointless and worse piece of TV I have ever watched.
An American presenter guy gets to operate expensive machines, then to see how they work inside
he Sliced (vandalised) the machine to bits i.e. in this case a new garbage truck using a chainsaw, a giant can opener and cutting gear.
When the truck is totally cut up (and destoyed) he just says " wow so thats how it works".
Then its on to the next expensive thing to slice open and look inside.Thats it.
I think the show could be made more interesting by Slicing the Host in half to see how he works!

I quite enjoy it, obviously it's little gimmicky but most of the things he has cut up I had no idea how they worked and now I do.
I also have a wider breath of knowledge on cutting tools:)

Don't see what your problem is. John is obviously given permission to slice what he does: it's not like he goes out and starts carving up people's cars or kitchens! And he provides a fun and entertaining way to find out how things work. I thought his examination of the pool table was great, and the slicing of the fire engine was breathtakingly cool!

John also infuses REAL interest and enjoyment into what he does, plus he's a real "all-American guy". Love his little competitions with Bud, who, by the way, is great and really knows his stuff.

The kitchen one was great too, and if you watched it, you'll see the lady was getting a new kitchen and so John was slicing up her old appliances, which no doubt helped in their removal.

Good program, and a lot of fun. Need more of these type of shows.

The only thing that bugs me about it is that it's styled the exact same way as other shows, Mythbusters most notably. Some originality/individuality would be good.

Nothing really

These days we get lots of shows on History from The Arts & Entertainment Network (A&E) in the US. All part of the same company i think.

As we don't have a seperate A&E channel, they dump them on History & have moved all the war stuff to Military History

History seems to be evoloving into A&E with Axe Men. Ice Road Truckers., Life after people & Sliced.

Watched this a few weeks back where he was cutting up fruit machines to see how they worked, surely its easier to just take the covers off rather than cutting through it and destroying the machine making it useless to see what actually happens. they also did a pool table which was a lot more intersting and was worth doing, so i suppose it depenRAB on what they're cutting up really.

I don't watch Mythbusters, but I would have to say that in my experience this programme is very original. Never seen facts discovered this way, makes learning fun and appeals to the hidden vandal :) in all of us! :D

As for what it has to do with history, well I will concede that point, although John does usually make a comment about something he's slicing, ie 1960 cooker versus 2000 one, old 50s jukebox etc. Doesn't really qualify as history true, but then, so many channels are now "widening their base",as it were (Yesterday shows drama, syfy shows other types of non sci-fi, etc).

I always enjoyed Tim Hunkin's Channel 4 series "Secret Life of Machines" - adapted from his Observer Magazine column complete with animations.

It's kind of interesting but a bit stupid, i mean how can they justify the waste, some of the stuff they've cut up looks brand new, they've destroyed stuff that must have cost loaRAB, all for a few minutes of television, crazy!

Quest started showing a similar programme called "Cut it in half" but soon dropped it. I quite enjoyed Sliced in a bizarre way, I am hoping History channel will broadcast more episodes, there are certainly lots of objects that can be sliced.
