Sleeping: Let's say I am lounging around on my couch, & while nodding off- I

never go to sleep. Details---- Do those nodding off times actually count as part of sleeping for a night? For example: if one wanted to get 8 hours of sleep and he only slept 6 hours through the night, could you count those 2 hours of nodding off as part of 8 hours of sleep?
