I think I could benefit from using a GERD pillow at night because once I get up in the morning my symptoms improve dramatically. My h has determined that the bed I sleep on is not one that can be raised up. I bought a slanted pillow on ebay a couple years ago but it didn't work out. I'm wondering whether anyone here might have found one that's been a help. I know it has to come up fairly high or it won't benefit me.

no idea if it would work for you but it doesn't hurt to try, im sleeping on a reclining couch tonight wish me luck :round:

Whatever you choose, make sure that the wedge pillow is 6-8 inches high and comes all the way down to your hips. Anything shorter will cause you to bend in a position which results in your esophagus not being kept straight and squishes your stomach making things worse.

I recently found a great Tempur-pedic one at one of those back stores that I fell in love with. It was about $100. I've been contemplating getting one. I've slept on a 6 inch incline for years, but I'm tired of waking with my blankets on the floor as they have slid off during the night.

Thank you both for commenting.

MountainReader, I didn't know Tempurpedic made one. SounRAB nice. Wondering whether you--as well as your blankets--have slid off your current pillow.

I hope sleeping on your reclining sofa helps, neptunian. I'd do that, except my h usually migrates once or twice to the door nearest it to let the dog out in the night and early a.m., and I think I'd have a hard time going back to sleep. Not that I've been sleeping much anyway.

I ordered one yesterday, dimensions 29 X 30 X 9. I really hope it does the trick. Should be here Wednesday or so. It had some good reviews.

I haven't tried sleeping on the wedge pillows. It was much cheaper to just raise the head of my bed 6 inches. I slide down a bit, but my blankets slide more. I hate tucking them in on the side so they are loose when I fall asleep. During the cold winter when I have multiple blankets, they tend to slide off in layers.

Keep us posted on how you like your wedge. Just make sure it inclines your entire upper body.

It's good you have the kind of bed that can be raised. I hope the elevation has helped you. It would compromise its structural soundness to raise mine. My h has his raised only 2.5 inches, and that's no help at all!

I may be about to join the blanket-sliding crowd this week. I figure I'll clirab up this 9-inch slope and get situated and probably have to regain my position a few times a night due to gravity. I'll report back after the pillow arrives and I try it out.
