Guys,

I have a SL65 and I would like to change language. I tried the following:

1) Download original firmware pack (SL6C500800.xbz_service.exe)

2) Extract firmware by using "PapuaSoft" (x65PapuaSoft.exe)

3) Flash firmware by using "winswup.exe" and select "Force secured mode"

4) But I got error "Secured update not possible, device not prepared"

Am I missing something?

Please help!

Hi,
try to upgrade directly (without winswup) using Siemens datacable and SL6C500800.xbz_service.exe;

dagos

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I am missing the sharing spirit here for a long time

I have tried, same result, still getting "Secured update not possible, device not prepared."!

It seem that the direct upgrade is for upgrading and not for changing language

Please ........... any more ideas? Thanks

For secure update, you shouldn't skip the pre-check, and left your handset 'ON' (I mean leave it 'ON' and don't skip the pre-check).

Thank you for your reply.

1) Phone is on
2) Pre-check is NOT skipped
3) Start the update and phone will turn off
4) Still error "Secured update not possible, device not prepared."

Any more ideas?

Then change the update concept to unsecure mode, pre-check skip, dan turn the handset 'OFF'. Then you'll have to soft-press the ignition button on your handset (red button) right after you press the 'START' button.

1) unsecured mode + pre-check skipped + ignition = "Device protected. Only secure update allowed"

2) Secured mode + pre-check skipped + ignition = "Secured update not possible, device not prepared."

Please ............ any idea why?

Forget to ask. Are you trying to cross-grade from SL65 to SL6C? If yes, then there's a chance the bootcore is protected for such practice.

You might need to cross-grade it using x65-flasher before you're able to upgrade using SL6C winswup.

Yes, it is a cross-grade from SL65 to SL6C.

Will you please give me more details of X65-flasher?

Thanks again.

There's a tutorial for that purpose in Indonesian language in the following URL: http://readybb.com/siemensxp/viewtopic.php?t=1605

I'm not quite sure I can translate them all, but hopefully from the screenshots can give you some explanation.

But please note that it requires modification of bootcore, your SL65 might end up terminated permanently. Even if successful, there's a chance some patches won't work for the modified SL6C (if you're going to patch it later).

For modification of langpack only, you actually can extract the langpack from other SL6C using Smelter to be partly added to your SL65, but that requires FUBU to have it.

Brother,

I don't really understand the language, but from the screen shoots, I see they are cross-grade from C65 --> SL65. I guess this is not what I wanted. I just want to change language, from English to Chinese. Not exactly cross flash from C65 to SL65.

Do I really need to do such big job to change language in SL65?

As I said before, the SL65's bootcore is protected so I can't accept SL6C's firmware. The only way to unprotect the bootcore is to modified it into SL6C's bootcore.

But if the language pack is the only issue in this thread, you need to generate FUBU (full-flash backup) from your SL65 and from somebody else's SL6C, then decompile the desired language pack and recompile it to your SL65.

On the matter of how to do it, I can't explain to you at a time. Because the process itself is quite complicated. You might find the tutorial in this forum. It's been discussed for years.
