Hello. I'm a little concerned about how I'm starting to look. Over the past 5-6 years, I, along with many people who are close to me, have noticed that my face seems to look thinner (around the cheeks/eyes). I was looking through some pictures of me throughout these years and really noticed a big difference. About a month ago, I went to get a physical and to also get some blood work done as a basic check up. Apparently everything looked fine. I explained my situation to the doctor and he stated that I need to just eat more.. I've been underweight all my life, so I don't feel telling me I need to eat more really helps my situation, especially since this just recently started happening. As a matter of fact, I've actually put on some weight recently from being unemployed for a couple months now. So if anything, I should of seen an improvement going by his logic. I really look 'unhealthy' even though I'm not. I'm in my mid 20s, if that helps.

I came here in hopes of finding a better explanation to this issue I'm having than the one the doctor gave me. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions / information. Thanks in advance!

Good Evening, I can not give you an explanation of what is happening. I really wish I could. But I can say that you are not alone. I am 28, and have also been underweight all my life. I guess it really didn't start to bother me until after I had my daughter. When I was pregnant, I got up to 165lbs and honestly I was rather happy about it. The day that I had her, I jumped on the scale and to my surprise, I lost 30 pounRAB in 20 minutes. I was back down to my normal 135. I have been trying for ever to actually gain weight so when I daughter was about 5 months old I went to my doctor and asked what was wrong. She did blood work and some other test and everything came back normal. I was given the same answer that you were given. Just eat more. Really, that isn't the answer that I want from my doctor when I am asking for help. And considering I am constantly eating I really don't know how much more I could take in.

I was looking back at some pictures from when I was pregnant vs now and I loved the way that my face, arms, ect. looked. It looked like I actually had some meat on my bones. Now I am 5'10 at 135lbs and in pictures I look like a pile of bones. I feel like I look anorexic. And my doctor won't do anything about it.

I am sorry that I wasn't any help regarding the situation but I know how you feel.

No problem! My sister actually experienced this same situation that you were/are in, with the kid and everything. I saw her before she had her kid and then about 3 years after and noticed a difference. I'm sure she noticed it but too, I didn't want to say anything to her. Of course her frienRAB were quick to mention it though..

Before coming to these boarRAB, I did a quick google search about this topic. It seems to be pretty popular topic among the females and a lot of the 'solutions' I've come across mentioned applying makeup to give the illusion that the face looked fuller. This really put me down because I'm a male and it made me feel like something is really wrong with me since not a lot of guys seem to have this problem, or at least that's the conclusion that I came up with.

Hopefully someone here can give us a better explanation as to what might be causing this and I wish you the best

Some people just have high metabolism and can't weight easily. There is no medicine that will help/cure it. You can try things like adding a milk shake a day or adding a supplement such as Ensure or even drinking SlimFast along with your meals as that will add calories as well. As a teenager and young woman I had this same issue and drank a chocolate shake or malt every day to maintain my weight. At almost 65, I don't have to do that any more!
