Every time I have blood drawn, within 24 hours my arm starts itching and several red bumps come up all over the needle site spreading out about a 3-inch diameter. This goes up and down with the itching getting more intense each day and lasting about a week then goes away. Some time ago I mentioned it to the lab tech before a blood draw and she used betadine instead of alcohol - I think it helped but I don't recall. I tried to research the topic but no luck in finding any info. At time I use alcohol for other reasons and it doesn't bother me. Could I have an allergy to alcohol or to the needle itself?
