Sketch the graph of x=(?y-2) -3 and, on the same set of axes, x=(?2-y)-3. Find the exact length of the line segment cut off the y-axis by the two graphs.

The bracket means that the number after the square root is the whole thing being square rooted.
I don't understand by the line being cut off? huh?
