for starters, the constant terrorist attacks from the plo against israeli civilians helped provoke the war seeing as how they were being suppiled by the egyptians and the syrians. the syrians were also constantly shelling the israeli settlements in galilee from the golan heights. syria also shut off the water supply to israel from the jordan river. egypt's leader, gamal nasser, was calling for the complete and utter destruction of israel, to wipe them off the map. also the egyptians cut off israels only port in the gulf of aqaba by blockading it. this and the constant rhetoric coming from cairo and damascus, caused the israelis to launch a preemptive attack on the 5th of june, 1967 destroying the egyptian air force, the jordanian air force and half of the syrian air force. then after that came the ground war that saw the israelis taking jerusalem, gaza, the west bank and the golan heights all in the matter of 5 days.
