situation with camping in france?

Has anyone done any camping in france (or for that matter Italy, Slovenia or Hungary)? I don't mean in campsites, just around the place.

What is the etiquette with asking farmers etc to camp on their land? I've done it in Ireland before and it was fine. Dunno what the story is in other cpountries.

Alors, premiere de tout, t'as besoin de demander la farmeur. 2eme t'as besoin de presenter etiquette et etre gentil, presenter lui tu es propre et gentil. Alors aucunes des restrictions!
