Hi there,
My younger sis. (50) first started her journey 2 weeks ago with swine flu. She didn't respond to Tamiflu and was admitted to Hospital with suspected pneumonia. Put on O2 on an HDU ward. Breathing didn't improve, so they've now dxd her with COPD plus sleep apnoea (sp?). She also suffers from corabined mental health probs of severe depression and schitzophrenia. I'm scratching my head at the moment because I don't know about COPD, except my gran died of it in the mid 70's. I don't know how to deal with her. Her cigarettes were the only enjoyment that she had in life, and now she's been told to quit. She did have a sneaky smoke in the hospital a few days ago. Unknown to her the staff were watching her via cctv. She took a "funny turn" and had to be administered with O2. Any advice will be most welcome. sandra xoxo
