Hi

I have been using Singulair for about 15 months and in that time have had a weight increase of two stone. I walk for miles and eat healthily and don't touch cakes, biscuits etc.

I typed into the internet 'singulair and weight gain' and was surprised to see that lots of people have posted comments about this.

Needless to say I have now stopped taking it as I do not think it has done anything for my asthma - indeed it has been much worse. My asthma is usually pretty dormant over the summer but this summer I have been suffering more and more attacks. I also have a lot of allergies and post nasal drip and can honestly say it didn't help with these either.

I was also taking a steroid nasal spray along with my preventers and rescue inhalers. I stopped taking the nasal spray months ago as I was getting a bit scared because I have used it for a long time and now I use a herbal spray called Rynhil - it is good and worth the expense.

When I stopped taking the singulair I developed a rash all over my face and neck and wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

Mainly interested in anyone who has gained weight with it? Of course this could be a corabination of the steroid nasal spray, the preventer inhaler and the singulair.

Thanks

I've been on Singulair for my asthma and allergies for many years now, heck probably 6+ and haven't seen weight gain. However, I'm a multisport athlete and long distance runner so that may be why. If I get off my medicine I get a cold easy.

Hi John, thanks for replying!

I've been off the singulair for a few weeks now as I didn't think it was working for me, in fact I have been a lot worse this last year whilst using it. My asthma has actually been better in the last few weeks though I suppose it is too early to tell yet and my allergies have not changed.

Guess I'll have to get out my running shoes - NOT!!!

I think what helped me the most is that my asthma only affected me during the fall and winter, and then on humid days. I have a puffer somewhere, but I don't use it anymore. Have you tried Advair?
