Singulair side effects?

My asthma's been out of control ever since I developed it last august. The smallest things set it off (even walking outside when it's frigid out will set it off). My allergist decided it might help for me to try singulair--allergies are part of the reason my asthma is so bad, and I can't get allergy shots until the asthma's under control (had an asthma attack the first time I tried).

I took it for the first time last night, and started feeling sick about an hour afterward. I started getting real dizzy, and I was nauseated for a while before I finally got to sleep, but ended up waking up every hour, then every half hour, ALL NIGHT. I'm exhausted today, and a little scared to take it again, but I can tell my asthma's better; my chest isn't as tight as it usually is this early in the morning.

Has anyone experienced any side effects similar to these? I looked up the list of side effects for Singular but only found things like dizziness, headache, etc.

I took Singulair for a little while and I didn't have any of the side effects you mentioned. It didn't really help me either. I would see your GP again and explain how you're feeling.

First of all, why are you seeing an allergist for your asthma. You should see a pulmonologist. Second, what other allergy meRAB are you on? And what other asthma meRAB? If cold air sets it off, you should try a puff of albuterol before spending any time outside. If you are just going from the house to the car, then you should wrap a bandana over your mouth or use a respiratory mask. These are the kinRAB of things a pulmonologist can help you with. Good luck!

Nothing wrong with seeing an allergist for asthma. In fact if allergies are the main cause you might better off although there is nothing wrong with seeing a pulmonologist. Asthma is a sub specialty for both kinRAB of doctors.
