SINGULAIR and emotional problems

Has anyone read about the emotional problems linked to Singulair? Its supposed to be linked to suicidal thinking and behaviors and also anxiety.

Has anyone experienced these side effects? And did going off Singulair help the effects go a way? Reason I ask is I have been having anxiety the past month and am curious if there is a link between that and the meRAB? I find it really odd that an allergy med. can cause these things!
 
I really dont think the meRAB have anything to do with it.

I asked my Dr. and she said there is nothing in singulair to cause any mental problems.

I stopped taking it, because it did nothing for me. But I never had any problems with it.
 
I actually called and asked the Allergist yesterday. And she said that Singulair can absolutely cause emotional problems.

I guess there are a bunch of studies going on right now about its effects. And possibility of taking it off the market.

She told me to stop taking it for a month to see if side effects subside.
 
I took it a couple of years ago, and after 3 days, I started to feel like a zorabie, and I couldn't sleep at night(was having strange vivid dreams), so I stopped taking it, and everything went back to normal, so I think your doctor's right. It can cause severe side effects in some people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they take it off the market in few years, esp. if more people experience the same kind of symptoms.
 
Yes, it's on the posted side effects. My daughter is turning 7 and is on singulair. She has had a problem with outbursts of temper and similar problems. I noticed after I switched vitamins that there was a very noted behavior difference, for the good. I read the ingredients on the vitamins, Aspartame (Flintstone chewable). Not all children have the same reactions to aspartame but a lot do. Her unidentical twin sister does not have this reaction. Singulair (chewable) has aspartame in it. I've switched my daughter off it. She is now Aspartame free and also temper tantrum free (as much as a 7 year old should be). The therapist we went to (because of the problem) was ready to diagnose her with Asbergers syndrome. Three weeks after removing aspartame from her diet, the therapist was stunned and has changed her opinion. She told us that our daughter is a very normal intelligent little girl and neeRAB no therapy. Our daughter's teacher called us to ask about the behaviorial changes she had noted and was too stunned by the outcome. Aspartame should be removed from all medications for children, prescription and OTC. I would rather they add sugar. They don't need more chemicals in their little bodies.
