Single Speed Bikes help?

Hi i am going to buy a Boardman Comp SC (Single Speed) for cheap as i work at Halfords... just a quick question... If i ever wanted to could i fit gears onto the single speed??
May sound daft that im asking even though i work at Halfords but i just want to be double sure.
