Sinful History of the Church?

The history of the church is married with incidents of sinful behaviour by its members. Describe in detail incidents of this behaviour (in history). Also describe how “the holy Church of Sinners” teach with moral authority.

Above is my assignment that is due in 1 week and I have no idea about the church. I did a research on sinful activiteis like the holocaust but I am still not sure how to put this all together. Can someone help me out.
 
Check Holy Inquisition. Look in to the meddling of the church in the affairs of states. Of ordering the murder of kings queens (Elizabeth I) etc. Check the Borgia family with their popes. These will lead you to all sorts of interesting stuff. Look at your seven cardinal sins and see how many of those were repeatedly broken by the church.
