Since I have a data plan, Opera Mini is slow on e71

Hey guys, I wonder if anyone of you have this issue. Since I got a data plan for my Nokia e71, Opera mini is acting very slow (on 3G and Wifi). Everytime I try to connect to a webpage, I can see the status says it is connecting and it takes forever (3G or wifi). Sometimes, it just time-out or I get an error message. The weird thing is that every other apps (Nokia Web, emtube, MSN messenger) are working fine on 3G or wifi. Anyone has that same issue?
 
You obviously haven't been "toying" with it enough if you can't even find the Settings page. Tools=>Settings at the bottom you have Network and then a Protocols drop-down.

The reason Opera Mini will get slow is because all the data is being tunneled through Opera servers, getting compressed and then hitting you. That's a bottle neck. Every single user with Opera Mini is going through their servers. It's bound to get tied up.

I use UCWEB6 now. Much better.
 
ok ok ok, this is nuts...I know how to get to settings, never saidI did not.

Here is my path..tools/settings/ then I have 4x options (general,phone,connection, applications)..

if I click on phone, then it takes me to (call, calldivert, call barring, network)
Under network, I see network mode, operator selection, cell info display...

what gives...where is the protocol drop down?
 
by the way, what does that do, changing it from http to sockets? i did it, noticed maybe a small difference in speed (maybe its in my head?)

ur goin through the wrong settings buddy. U need to go to the settings in opera mini n u will find the option to change the setup to socket
 
Thanks guys, the "socket" protocol worked, it's now connecting faster. However, I have another problem now. For some reason, Opera mini is not saving my feeds. It always go back to BBC and Opera. Is this common?
