Sin City and the Oscars

Does anyone else think Sin City should have got at least one Oscar nomination? Anyone know why it didn't?

special effects, art direction and make up it was excellent in all these.

Did it get nominated? I think they just announce the acting, directing and producing oscars in public, dont they?

To be honest, Sin City is not exactly Oscar Material, It's a Damn Great film, one of my fave's but Oscar type are like Brokeback Mountain, Walk The Line, etc, Sin City is way too violent for it, and i doubt some of them soccor moms in America would want a film like this to win anything.

Yeah, it's violent, but I'm surprised it didn't even get nominated for Special Effects as someone else said. The score is pretty cool as well.

Benicio Del Toro should have taken home Best Supporting Actor, he was incredible in that movie

No chance at the Oscars for this one methinks, good as it was. Even if if did get a nom for effects, King Kong is a shoe-in (paw in?) for that one I'd have thought.
