Simpson humor

When I was watching The simpsons recent episodes and I was wandering what kind of humor is this now I really can't describe it like One episode lovejoy was like "on your mark wait someone's not on their.... mark their it is" Sideshow mel ranting about getting orange drink and then saying something about it I forget and then one episode marge said something like "my favorite kind of surprise mild" what kind of jokes are those because they aren't funny and does anyone know anymore for some examples

You described three jokes... I vaguely recall a gist of a memory pertaining to all three (as i've watched every episode of The Simpsons, and most more than once) but you didn't describe them in enough detail for me to get what you were getting at...

Like

Marge: Hello Homer
Homer: hello Marge

^ That's the sort of description i can understand... My memory isn't good enough to allow me to reconstruct a scene of a show just from a gist memory of it.

Ok The first was when homer was trying to win marge her computer in a duck race
Lovejoy: On your mark....wait someone's not on their mark.....ok
The other was
SideShow Mel: Can we move this meeting along? I pay my taxes, I expect my orange drink!
(Groundskeeper Willie serves SideShow Mel orange drink)
SideShow Mel (taking a sip): Ambrosia!
the last one was like
Marge: Oh Homey it's my favorite suprise; mild
another one I recall i can't remember lisa said something and they asked what kind and she said some lame thing and they were like all surprised

Um ok. Well you've jogged my memory and i do remember all but the last vague one now. Well i don't know which classification i'd place the gags in. They seem typical Simpsons jokes... They don't appear to fall under satire... Seem more of the string of gags plot type joke... humor for the sake of it.

I wouldn't classify it especially under satire, slapstick, irony/cynical (also often satirical) or normal. I guess it's normal really. Theres probably a more precise defnition based upon more complex contextual things like the way in which words are said, reactions etc.

I guess it's just a deadpan kind of humor.
I would say most of these kind of jokes decribe just how typical a specific character can be. Take the Flanders for instance; boring, rigid, religious. One eipisode had Ned serving nachos Flanders style which was cucumbers and cottage cheese and another has Maude asking for an unflavored ice pop. Typical Flanders but, none the less hilarious!

One I don't get is, at the power plant the workers are voting for something and someone keeps saying "Nay". Homer goes "Who keeps saying that?" then they cut to a little guy holding his hat and he points to another guy and says "It was him. Let's get him boys!" And everyone beats him up. Was this just filler?

The joke is that the "Nay" guy has this meek, Droopy-like voice, and when everyone turns to look at him, he says in that voice "It was him", pointing at some other guy, and the employees are dumb enough to believe him. It's another jab at mob mentality.

:D:evil::p;):):sad::sweat::yawn::cool::chowder::radda::flapjack::mad::confused:
is thier any more talk about homer traveling through time or retreating him from that other dimension

I think I'd describe it as era-based humor; reason being I decided to check out the latest Simpsons episode cause it got pretty high praise here on the forums. I confess...it was actually very reminiscient of the classic Simpsons style. Unfortunately, it's also as dated as the Simpsons style; having them throw in modern stuff like jokes about texting and Twitter just to make it up to date....well...doesn't. It seems awkward and out of place, like the style is from a different time, and the jokes really don't work. It'd be like a current episode of WKRP in Cincinnati where they'd post a Facebook profile...it'd just be weird. Or watching Lucy and Desi enjoy Blu-Ray DVDs. I hate to say it, but I really think the Simpsons now has two major problems:

1. Usually it's no longer funny.

2. Even when it has good writing in it, the jokes about modern technology and whatnot just seem incredibly out of place.

I know I keep repeating this like a broken record, but I really do think it's time for the Simpsons to lower the curtain for the final time...

Maybe you could describe the mark joke as witty humor? Since obviously it's not a real mark that they're looking for. Or perhaps literal humor would be a better way to describe it.
