Similarities between My Sister's Keeper and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the

Night-Time? I have to write a paper on two books that share a common theme.
I really want to do My sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

Has anyone read both books and have any idea of how they can be linked together?

I was thinking that in both books the parents are kind of dictating the lives of the children, but I don't know if that's strong enough.
