Sim Card Question

Hey everyone.

I did a search for this, but didn't find anything related to what I wanted to know.

I recently (September '07) signed up with AT&T. I got the RAZR because it was free with my new plan. I'm very disappointed with the phone and I'm looking to buy a new one.

My question is, if I purchase a Blackberry Pearl or Curve, can I use my current SIM card without having to upgrade to a Blackberry plan? My SIM is 3G. I've also wondered if it would work with other smartphones without having to upgrade my plan.

I am also considering the Samsung a737. I know the card will work with that phone with no problems, though.

The SIM card itself will work with any AT&T phone. The voice plan will work with any AT&T phone. AT&T sells data packages which are meant to be used with certain types of phones. A Blackberry data package would be needed to use the exclusive Blackberry features of the Blackberry handset. Because of the form factor, many Blackberry devices are not suited to be used as a voice device only. Get a Blackberry only if you intend to use Blackberry data. Get another regular phone or a different PDA if you want voice and web browsing.
