Sim card and coverage question. T-mobile Net10?

If Im using a prepaid phone (net10) that has a t-mobile sim card in it (that's what the invoice said) and it works where I live, then will a t-mobile prepaid phone (which I assume come with t-mobile sim cards) work where I live? Does the sim card determine who's tower the signal comes off of?
