I'm a 19 year old punk, always got into trouble growing up (fortunately not too much with the law just a Minor Consumption and Shoplifting charge). Used to do drugs. It was just me and my mother growing up, and she is an alcoholic so I had NO discipline oncesoever.

So I recently in the past couple months grew tired of living this way. I realized I NEED discipline, structure, and a plan for my life. Unfortunately I didn't graduate HS but got my GED. I'm a VERY intelligent individual, I just never chose to do anything.

So I looked at the Army as an escape/way to better myself/do something good with my life. I need discipline and figure they will teach it to me. I need a steady job/want to have fun, and figure the Army will do that. Which is also why I chose infantry. I love adrenaline, like guns, and need money. Infantry has those two plus they get deployed the longest, meaning they get more money (right?).

So I'm just asking for anyone's info/advice on their Army experience, infantry info, Fort Benning info (which is where I'm headed in 5 days WOOP WOOP), anything really. I also got a promotion BEFORE I left, by completing the Basic training graduating physical test thingy, and by doing a bunch of online courses, so I'm already an E-2 :D

Thanks guys

My main advice is remember basic is only a head game its truly easy it you want it to be, and don't learn by peoples bad examples. Do the right thing when others even NCOs are doing the wrong thing. ALWAYS BE EARLY. Standard is 10min i go with 15.

Just keep your head up and don't let the Drill SGT's get in your head. They like to play a lot of mind games, lol. Just keep moving fwd. HOOAH!
