Signal Lights on 1991 Ford Ranger. HELP!?

I was driving my truck today (a 1991 Ford Ranger) and ever since I bought it a month or so ago, I've noticed that the signal lights blink very fast compared to my car. I thought that that's just how it was made, or the previous owner put weird bulbs in.
Anyways, today I was driving and all of a sudden my signal lights wouldn't work, the exterior ones or the interior ones on the dash.
My Grampa's kinda a mechanic so he told me to check the fuse and see if that's what it is, but it's dark and I have to wait till morning.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? It sounds like it could be the fuse, seeing as both sides are out, but are there any other possibilities? Thank you in advance.
 
Did you notice if the front and rear bulbs were both blinking when the turn signal was on? Usually the cause of a fast blinker indicates that either the front or rear bulb has gone bad and if both go bad the interior blinkers probably will not light up because it is letting you know your blinkers bulbs are blown. You may also if it is this serious have a steering column problem because in my moms van the column is bad and when the key is jiggled a certain way all electronics turn off but the car still runs fine. Hope this helps.
 
usually is a light bulb that had died, check all your light bulb elements and connection that are related to your indicator lights, good luck mate
 
usually when one blinks really fast it's because a bulb is out either in the tail light or in the front... most likely in the tail light since you didn't notice...
if it quits working altogether, it's typically because the lack of the working bulbs caused a short in the relay from being over worked due to the lack of the working bulb et etc etc so burns it out..

replace the relay replace all the bulbs.... you may as well..

if you replace just one bulb then it'll be brighter or dimmer than the others... at least replace both back ones ...

Replacing the blinker actuator is a good idea in general. with a car or truck that's almost 20 years old. less risk of fire!
