Siemens dryer in Germany not working!?

The manual is in German, so I'm having a hard time figuring out what could be wrong. I've used it a few times just fine, suddenly, when I turn the knob to a setting it's supposed to let me choose time, etc by pushing buttons, but 3 dashes show up on the screen, as if there's an error. Anyone ever have this problem?

Not an uncommon problem with all microprocessor based things. A computer glitch can just come out of the blue. Try just unplugging it for a few mins and then it should reset. One problem all dryers have is a heat build up in the area where the big vent hose goes on. This will cause the thermal safe switch to shut down. Remove the hose and reach in amd remove any built up lint etc. that may be in there. The little switch may even have failed. This will prevent most dryers from coming on, though some may still run, but won't have any heat. It normally is a small plastic rectangular thing with 2 green wires running to it. You can just pull the wires off and hook them to each other as a test and if the dryer works then you need to replace the switch. Do not continue to use it with the switch jumped out as that is a fire hazard. The device is normally on the back near where the hose goes on.
