sidekick wont turn on (2nd time asking)?

i got a sidekick slide off of ebay today and when i first put the battery in , it worked fine. then when i realized i need to put my sim card in, i had trouble taking the battery out so i brought it to a t-mobile by me. they took it out when they tried to put it back on, it wouldnt turn on. i tried charging it, the red light goes on but it doesnt turn on. i called motorola and they said they are sending me a new battery within 4-5days. do you think its the battery or the phone? what else can i do
