i got a lx 2009 without a data plan and i absolutely regret it. without the data plan, all you can do basically is call and text people because every time you do something the phone makes a backup on the Danger server and since you will not be getting a data plan, you will not be connected to Danger and so every time you turn off your phone you lose all of your data, including contacts (you can save your contacts in your SIM card and import it every time you turn off your phone.) you can get a unlocked phone but the phone will still be the same (even with a data plan) because it will not connect to Danger, no t-mobile, no service. so basically, its a $200 phone that does the same things as a $40 phone.
with that being said, i think you should know about the other flaws of the lx 2009. (IMO)
the controls for the media player is terrible, the camera isnt that great either (you cant move at all when you take a picture because the slightest movement will result in a blurry picture and videos are so pixelated that you can barely see even i adjusted every options to the best possible).
the back cover is very fragile, the part holding the cover inplace broke after a day of use so (i switched my phone twice and still happens) so i giveup and just taped it together (but my other friend who has the maroon color did not have the same problem) .
the battery life is ok, the 8 day standby time is BS. i have to charge it every night even though i dont even talk more than 10 mins each day. (although sometimes when i leave it for 2 days, my phone cant boot up because the battery ran out and even though i plugged it to the charger it still wont boot)
bottom line, for the price of an SK, any phone is better than this. (try iPhone, HTC, Pre, Nexus, or Android phone, any phone will do)
