I recently visited Seaworld San Diego, and what I saw in their "Turtle Reef" exhibit really bothered me. The vast majority of the sea turtles had nasty looking wounds on the tops of their necks, and in a separate exhibit, the turtles were morbidly obese. I'm really hoping that this is because the turtles on exhibit are rescues that are being rehabilitated, and that the injuries weren't a result of poor care. I'd like to give Seaworld the benefit of the doubt, but frankly, I was far from impressed with their aquariums in general, and the neck wounds were especially troubling. Does anyone have more information on this?
