I noticed the heater in my fish tank was not regulating the temperature...it would spike over 92F one day then drop to below 80F another day....I removed the heater thinking since it's always very very warm in my room, keeping a stable temperature would be better than a fluctuating one...I went on a two day "vacation" out of town and apparently my room mate turned off my room heater and I came home to a 52F tank and my oscar laying on his side on the bottom. Spent the day letting the temp come up in the tank but he is still laying on his side.
He attempts to swim every once in a while but can't coordinate himself and eventually the current pushes him around until he sticks to the filter, gets caught on a plant or lands on the bottom. Then he just lays there.
I have other fish in the tank that have survived worse things with their previous owner so I'm not surprised that they are fine...
Water quality is fine...temp is now back up just over 80.
Question is...how (if it's even possible) can I save my Oscar?
