i care for alot of stray cats at my back yard...
no emotional ties, they come they eat drink sleep and leave...
so most of these cats are stray cats,....
just a few days ago one of the cats (about 2 years old male i found him digging through the trash when he was only 5 months old or so, most probably abandoned by his mother ) He disappeared for about 5 days... when he came back he was very weak. at first i thought it mite of just been exhaustion
but 2 days later he only comes back during the middle of the night and has the following symptoms
a) A little rope like saliva at the corner of his mouth
b) seems to have lost weight
c) weak, but still has the energy to eat, drink and leave like he usually does
d) seems quiet (lets out a light meow from time to time)
e) messy fur
f) gums have a light pink color to them
g) seems very fragile when i pick him up
h) mouth always has a small opening
i) rapid breathing from time to time
basically he comes to my house eats and drinks, lays down for about 30 min and leaves
i notice that he is still eating a decent amount (not as much as he used too) and drinking water regularly
as i said this cat is a stray cat and therefore wild. I cannot bring him to the vet cause it will be hard to contain him...and aside from that he seems to appear and disappear at random times.
come to think of it im the only human he trust but he gets very uncomfortable if i hold him for too long
any suggestions on wat to do?
home remedies?
diet change?
possible diagnosis? so maybe i can just go to the vet without him and get the appropriate medicines as i believe vets dont do house calls....
i personally feel that im obligated to help him, i just dont know how
any tips past experience would be appreciated
