SI Joint Setback....

Cleaning (especially bathrooms and vacuuming) puts me in pain faster than ANYTHING. My hubby doesn't like to clean much, so I have someone come in once a week so I won't be tempted to do it. MeRAB don't do much for me so I just have to wait a few days for everything to calm down to a more tolerable level of pain. I hope you feel better soon!

I had come a long way with exercises, and today I dust mopped just a small room to get cobwebs out and wala, I feel like I had my hip/leg pulled out of socket.

I can't believe that LITTLE mopping motion put me back in pain all the way down the inside of my inguinal nerve, buttocks, back and sciatica and groin.

Anyone relate ?

Man, is this stuff a downer.............I want to SCREAM just to let this out.

OK.........just did, did you hear me all over the US ? :) :) :) :) Well, you do have to keep a sense of humor no................??? THough in person I'm weeping.

Input from anyone with SI would be much appreciated ...TIPS,.....HELP ? MeRAB ? ANYTHING ?

Hi-I have bad arthritis in my SI joints and also in the lurabar facet joints (L3-L5). I know what you mean about household tasks setting off the SI. I can be going along ok, and then something just sets the pain off! For me, it usually is sitting just a bit too long at a social event. At home, I know when to take breaks and lay down, etc.

The thing that helps me the most is the injections in the SI joints. I get them about every 3-4 months-I try not to get more than 3 a year. I also Ice a lot and use a TENS machine to stop the muscle spasms that come along with the joint pain. I also had radio frequency ablation for my lurabar facet pain higher up. Hope the pain lets up for you soon!

Take care, Kera4

Hi Susan,

Many of us are sufferers of the old SI joint. Nasty nasty painful thing. Have you had injections? If so, give your PM a call and let them know it is flared up and what happened, they will likely get you in pretty quick. Other than that or nerve meRAB. SounRAB like you have had this off and on for a while so I assume you are already on meRAB for it? Rest, ice or heat (your preference) call doc, when you sleep, place a pillow between your knees from knee to toe and just try not to do too much, especially cleaning. I put it off and put it off (the other two able bodies in my house obviously don't care if it gets dirty) then I get sick of looking at it and get busy. I can't do too much at one time but if I do a bathroom, I am ruined for a few days. Same with vaccuming and mopping. Good luck to you and keep us posted. I hope you feel much better by morning!

Sincerely,
Lisa

SounRAB like your SI joint has slightly shifted off its natural alignment.

Try muscle energy techniques to realign it. They really do work and will give your SI joint and pelvis a better alignment.

I just ordered a BACK thingy...........works like traction, off an infomercial.........I normally do not buy that stuff but am excited as it looked like this back gadget has really helped some folks. Helps realign the back.......you lay on it.......and it stretches the back. Makes the spine float and muscles on either side to relax.

It's not that expensive and money back if it doesn't help.........so I'm looking forward to trying it since nothing in the universe seems to help for long.

Thanks for all you input........keep it coming. :D

Thanks so much.

Question ? Do you hurt in your Stomach/Groin area on the side affected ? It's like that Inguinal nerve went off like a rocket. Do you have that kind of pain ........that runs down the INSIDE OF YOUR LEG ?

Hi Susan,
Do you mind me asking what back thingy? I've seen several, but the one your describe sounRAB familiar.

Also....
tell me more about the lightning strike

Hope you get some relief soon.

Hello, Susan...I am also a fellow "SI Joint Sufferer"and sporadically have burning, sharp pains in my groin area. Those type of pains bring me to my knees!

So, what has helped your SI the most if you will share ?

I'm headed to an Ortho on the 14th. I've got facet joint on left side, SI on right side, severe arthritis at L4-5, lower lurabar strain, osteopenia of right hip, and an extra vertebrae I was born with. Also Fibro, and a host of other maladies...........I'll spare you. I'm also a lightning strike survivor which I think WAS MY MAIN PROBLEM. Has caused all kinRAB of health issues.

BUT THIS SI is very very painful..................up tonight unable to sleep.

HI Susan,

I too am curious about that back thingy. Once you have tried it, if you love it or hate it I guess as a warning. Please let us know. It could help all of us!

I'm sorry I didn't get back sooner, I have been a scatterbrain here lately, big time. I'm adjusting to new meRAB-or not ha ha.

I do not get pain in my stomache or groin area, nor do I get pain on the inside of my leg. Mine is down the back of my leg and curves to the outside once it gets past my knees. Yours sounRAB alot like a groin problem like a herniation of some kind. I would definately bring it up with your doc. I'm not a doc but I recall hearing or reading something like that before. I hope for your sake it is something simple like that so you no longer have to suffer with it!

It's funny you ordered this back thing. I always said if I could just hang from my feet and stretch my body, my back would work itself out. Well, I never found a way to do that and ended up with surgery so now I will never know. I just pray someone will hear us and really figure out where this pain comes from and fixes it.

Sincerely,
Lisa

Sorry, I'm so long in answering you guys. Went to the mall for a few things.......( a rarity for me) and in two hours I was done. Something PULLED in my back, had to get on floor in dressing room, move from chair to chair and sit for a while to get to car, at which time I went to bed (I keep one made up in the back seat) took meRAB, and finally made it home to couch in utter despair and frustration. GREAT.........I needed something else.

OK, about the THINGY. I don't think I can say the name of it on this thread, but it is something you lay on the floor. It's curved.....it has TEETH/massagers (no batteries however) on either side of spine area and NOTHING in the middle so your spine can float. You start out in one position and work up on how far back you lay on it.

It acts like traction and stretches the spine and floats the spine and also helps the muscles along side the spine. It's not real expensive, cheaper than a DOC visit.....75.00 with shipping. IT MAKES SENSE ! I do not believe anyone ever gets well with shots, meRAB, yada yada.........maybe I'm wrong. ....it's like the BANDAID thingy. I want to get to the ROOT in a healthy way and get what's out of line back in line. I don't know if this will help or not, but I want long term, drug free help. ( I'm not knocking anything anyone does........one had to do what one had to do....and I certainly takes meRAB). Hopefully not forever......I refuse it.

So, that's kinda it.

It's on it's way. I figure by mid week next week to have it.

You can do this ANYWHERE, don't have to disrobe, and folks say they are getting their lives back. ESPECIALLY golfers are raving about it.

I'm sure you can do a good search on infomercial back help or something like that and find this black rounded THINGY with what looks like teeth on either side of the open spine area with pics telling how it works.

I hope this helps and I'll report back....................

I'll answer your question on the Lightning strike on the next SIT DOWN session :) :) :) (can't sit long).

The lightning thingy. I was 5 years old. Hit indirectly, but I took quite a bit of electricity.

Flipped me over, burned my eyebrows and eyelashes off, knocked me out, blinded me for days, ............... and I've been SICK ever since.

From what I understand, lightning strike survivors have everything under the sun because it fries your immune system. Does damage to your whole body system.

Many, many have taken worse hits than me and are in terrible, terrible shape.....though I've suffered enough. And if that's not enough........the next year at age 6, I HAD A STROKE.

WEIRD...........didn't know kiRAB could have strokes, but that's what the Doc said who made the HOUSECALL (yeah........that was a while ago huh ? LOLOLOL ) said. My whole face started doing an upside down frown......mouth totally upside down and my Mother was like: Stop doing that or your face is gonna freeze like that........I said: MAMA, I'm not doing this and then she could see I was not and went bananas. They also thought it might have been the beginnings of Polio, however it never manifested, but I believe that was a huge sign about my health.

And I think Fibro is POLIO...........and we got it to some degree from the vaccine. MY 2 CENTS.............and you know what that's worth. :) :) :)
