'Shrek' Halloween Special and 'Kung Fu Panda' Christmas Special

Wait, isn't Kung Fu Panda getting a series on Nickelodeon? If so why is it getting a holiday special on NBC? Shouldn't Nick have excluisve rights to the Kung Fu Panda TV franchise? I mean I don't see a Madagscar Christmas/Halloween special being made.

Madagascar might get a special in the future but Dreamworks is really pushing it with these shows and specials. I wish that this madness would stop. Some people didn't care for the last Shrek Christmas special so get ready for some flame towards the new one. As for KFP getting a Christmas special, why? Seriously why even bother with a holiday special when the film's already got 26 episodes on the grill for the series?

It'll also be kind of weird because I find it hard to associate old China with the celebration of Christmas.

Mind you, I'm not really opposed to any of these Dreamworks related ideas (I think the idea of a Monsters vs Aliens series actually sounds good), however I do get the idea that it seems like too much too fast.

Well I think that Dreamworks only cares about making films for the sake of them getting TV spin-offs and lots and lots of tie-ins to promote those TV shows and movies. Granted this is something that Pixar had strayed away from even though it gave us Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.

They already DID do a Christmas featurette for Madagascar. The Penguins of Madagascar in "A Christmas Caper," Skipper, Rico, and Kowalski set out to save Private from an old lady's place, complete with a small vicious attack poodle. Remember it? No? Well, here's a line from the Featurette I have on the DVD.

Rico: K-K-Kaboom?
Skipper: Yes, Rico, Kaboom.

Well I don't care for the Shrek Halloween special but the Kung-Fu Christmas special might be cute if done right. I hope the voice actors come back for this.

Why are they making a Christmas special for a movie set in a Buddist country? :/ I think we have more than enough spinoffs from Dreamworks, especially Shrek. Doing all these series and movies at the same time might lead them to burn out, not to mention how mucht he quality will suffer.

"I didn't realize they celebrated Christmas in Japan"

"Hey, we're flexible, Pearl Harbor didn't work, so we're getting you with tape decks!"

;)

An MvA series actually isn't a terrible idea, especially if it saves Dreamworks from drumming up a sequel to the movie. There shouldn't be a problem filling up atleast 26 eps worth of plots. (A new Monster or problem to solve every week.)

Kung Fu Panda on the other hand, not so much.

An MvA show could be very entertaining if it was done right.

But I also want Nickelodeon to put on creator-driven cartoons like it used to be so good at doing!

Like many people I'm confused at Dreamworks having a Chinese-infused tale of theirs celebrating a Western holiday.

Wouldn't it be more prudent to have a Kung Fu Panda Chinese New Year Special? You'd not only have a more fitting holiday, but you'd do the watchers a favour to some extent by raising cultural awareness.

Well, Japan is kind of different. They've adopted Christmas, but it's kind of lost its religious and family gathering aspects. As I understand it, it's more like Valentine's Day to them in the sense that they just see it as a good day to give someone they love a present.

However, I don't think China ever went about adopting Western holidays.
