I thought the first two Shreks were amazing.

Puss-in-Boots: Stop, ogre! I have misjudged you.
Shrek: Join the club. We got jackets.

[convincing Donkey to let Puss come with them]
Shrek: How many cats can wear boots? Honestly?

I laughed a lot watching this the other night.

I liked the subtle little things in the background a lot. Like there was this Monet painting in the king's room, the one with lilies and a bridge and um....the king's on the bridge..... Then, there's an "Employee of the Month" chart in the Fairy Godmother's factory but every employee there looks the same. And of course.....Sir Justin poster.....:rotfl:

And I liked the "Holding Out For a Hero" sequence like most ppl do as well. It was awesome. :D

Hiya, Roxybreeze! Welcome to the boards.

Actually, since this is a spoiler thread I'm going to reopen it and change the title so people know what it is. I also changed it because the phrase you used was a spoiler in itself. Let me know if you come up with something else less spoilery. :)

If you want to participate in the non-spoiler discussion, go here.

I agree that this one had a bit more laughs. I adore them both equally, though.

I'd have to say my favorite parts were:

- The whole "Knights" thing. That just cracked me up. Especially with the "gender confused werewolf", the Gingerbread Man and the others at Shrek's swamp watching it on TV.

- And the climax, the whole "Holding Out For A Hero" sequence was great.

Sherk 2 was Great !! If u have seen it already then write some of your favorite moments or anything else you like about the movie.

IF YOU HAVENT SEEN SHREK 2 YET AND WANT IT TO KEEP IT AS A SUPPRISE THEN DONT LOOK ANY FURTHER.

It a sure thing for money, thats the reason they are thinking about more sequals.... If they have good scripts, I don't mind, but if they start to become the Disney straight to video Sequal release quality then I might have probem.....

I died laughing during this film. And it was like a rowdy audience. People were slow-clapping and everything. It was sooooooooooo funny.

But plot-wise, I thought the first one was better.
Sequel definitely had more laughs. Much more pop culture influence.

They keep saying thatit is better than th first one but I honestly thing the first one is so much better!!!!Not that I didn't enjoy this one!!!!Puss in boots was the cutest character ever!!!Don't you think???

Shrek 2' Shakes Up Box Office with Record Opening
Sunday May 23 2:23 PM ET

"Shrek 2," a cartoon revolving around a green ogre and his princess bride, trampled even the most optimistic forecasts as it set several new opening records at the weekend box office and kick-started the lucrative summer movie-going season into high gear.

The animated sequel sold about $125.3 million worth of tickets in its first five days of release across North America, its distributor, DreamWorks, said on Sunday.

If figures hold when final numbers are released on Monday, the total haul will set a new record for a Wednesday release, beating the $124.1 million earned by "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" last December.

For the three days beginning Friday, the traditional start of the weekend box office, the film earned $104.3 million, making it the second-best opener behind "Spider-Man," which kicked off its run with $114.8 million in 2002.

"No one thought we could get above the mid-80s for the three days," said Jim Tharp, president of domestic theatrical distribution at DreamWorks.

Executives at the closely held studio had merely hoped to set a new record for an animated opening, beating the $70 million bow of "Finding Nemo" a year ago, he said.

Its Saturday haul of $44.8 million is the best for any single day, beating "Spider-Man's" first Saturday of $43.6 million. The three-day tally for "Shrek 2" also ranks as the best opening so far this year, ahead of "The Passion of the Christ," which debuted with $89.3 million in February. Additionally, the film opened in a record 4,163 theaters.

SHREK 3?

According to exit polls, more than 80 percent of moviegoers said they would definitely recommend the film, and more than 70 percent would see it again, Tharp said.

While a Wednesday opening tends to dilute weekend sales, Tharp said the positive word of mouth from the first two days actually boosted subsequent business.

As for another sequel, "Until today it was presumptuous to think about it," said Ann Daly, head of DreamWorks' animation division, "but let me tell you, we're thinking about it now."

The first "Shrek," released in May 2001, opened with $42.4 million in its first weekend, and went on to earn $267.7 million domestically.

"Shrek 2," which received its world premiere at the recently concluded Cannes Film Festival, follows the title character(Mike Myers) as he and his new princess bride, Fiona (Cameron Diaz), visit her regal parents (John Cleese and Julie Andrews). It was directed by Andrew Adamson, who worked on the first one, along with Kelly Asbury and Conrad Vernon. The film was budgeted at between $70 million and $75 million, DreamWorks said.

Elsewhere at the box office, incumbent champ "Troy" slipped to No. 2 with $23.8 million in its second weekend, after a relatively modest drop of 49 percent. The worldwide total for the Brad Pitt costume epic stands at $232 million, including $85.8 million from North America. The film was released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a unit of Time Warner Inc .

The monster thriller "Van Helsing" was at No. 3, also down one place, with $10.1 million and a 17-day haul of 100.2 million. Its worldwide total stands at $229 million, said a spokesman for Universal Pictures, which is owned by General Electric Co.-controlled NBC Universal.

Rounding out the top five were "Mean Girls" (Paramount Pictures) and "Man on Fire" (20th Century Fox) with $6.9 million and $3.5 million, respectively. Their domestic totals rose to $64.7 million and $69.3 million, respectively.

Paramount is a unit of Viacom Inc. Fox is a unit of News Corp.'s Fox Entertainment Group Inc.

The top 10 featured only one other newcomer. The acclaimed documentary "Super Size Me," in which filmmaker Morgan Spurlock risks his life to eat exclusively at McDonald's Corp. restaurants for 30 days, jumped two places to No. 10 with $953,000 from just 148 theaters. Its three-week haul stands at $2.9 million. The film was released by privately held entities Roadside Attractions and Samuel Goldwyn Films

It was the same when I went to see it. The atmosphere was great people were clapping, laughing and collectively awwing the kitty :)

I immensely enjoyed the movie. I loved Jennifer Saunders as the fairy godmother. And was it just me or did part 2 contain more references to other movies(MI2, Flashdance ao) than the first Shrek? In fact were there refs in the first part at all? I don't remember.

I saw it last night..and I gotta say, I wasnt too big a fan of the first one..but this was hilarious!

I love Antonio Banderas..he is hilarious. "I am Puss....In Boots" I loved the introduction of the cat to Shrek and Donkey. I dont think I laughed so hard before

I also love the whole MI scene/spoof..that was hilarious.

And being a fan of LOTR..I laughed at that spoof too.

Great movie. Antonio steals the show. :)

I  both of the movies. It seems to get better. :)

Puss In Boots is sooooo cute and funny! I loved that part where he stares pleadingly at Shrek with those big, big eyes. Aww!

O_o i cant wait till this movie is ouyt on dvd coz i just aint got the time to go and see it. It looks just sooo good and i love the other 1. :)

I saw it a few days ago and it was almost as funny as the first. There are adult themes but then the kids can still enjoy the visually funny parts.

I especially loved all the references they made to modern 21st century stuff, it was really well done. And Prince Charming was also funny to look at. He's even prettier than the human version of Fiona from the last movie.

i absouletly  this one...actually both of them are equally hilarious but the sequel was alittle hilairous with the addition of Puss, the cat with sad eyes. i just adore that scene where Shrek rubs the side of head againt Puss'...and the donkey all jealous. :rotfl:

the donkey is still my fav :D

i just saw the music video of "Accdiently in Love" by COunting Crows....and it's wicked and funny.

I just saw this movie and I absolutely loved it! It was so funny. I found it way better than part one and I loved the cat. He was so cute with his puppy eyes. He now is my fave character along with the donkey.

I loved all the movie connections and the academy award spoof. The sequence with the "knights" was also very funny.

I also loved the end with the donkey-dragon babies. :D It was such a cute idea and they looked so cute.

I love both movies ... hillarious. I can't watch Disney movies anymore since IMO they're way too corny for my taste now but I love the parodies shown in Shrek. :D And I love the song "Accidentally in Love" too. :)

BTW does anyone know where I could find screencaps for Shrek 2? Wanted to make avies but there seems to be a severe lack of pics around. :(

Kyls, you are a legend! Snag. Thank you so much!

I found it extraordinarily cruel how they drowned Mongo in milk. Heh. And they destroyed his gumdrop buttons! "Not the gumdrop buttons!" The Pinocchio scene is also a favourite - "are you wearing women's underwear?" "no i'm not!" "it's pink!" "no it's not!" :rotfl:

I was at school and kept on singing the Muffin Man song and successfully managed to piss off all of my friends as they had also gotten it in their heads.
