Shoulder pain, not sure where to post

My husband has been complaining of severe shoulder pain for a few weeks now. The symptoms he has been having are as follows: pain 24/7 he says it feels like if one had a bruise and someone punched the bruise, that's the kind of pain he feels, he has weakness in the arm, can not lay or sleep on the arm/shoulder and is resorted to sleeping on his right side only. It hurts when he puts his shirt on or even moves/raises his arm. He took an OTC med today and did get slight relief but not much, and it was an anti inflamatory. We did see a Dr who said it seemed to be a torn rotator cuff but after researching that, none of it makes sense. He has done NO damage to it at all, he is only 37 and it is his left shoulder, his less dominant one. He doesn't life heavy things or play sports. I know he is probably in more pain than he is letting me know so i thought maybe some ideas from here may help. We do plan on seeing a physiotherapist next week but i just don't know where this came from all of a sudden! He says it feels internal like in his muscle, he works on computers all day so it is not like he is doing anything physical and if it was from that one would think it would be in his wrist...anyways any help would be great or pointing me to a category on here that may be better would be great too :) thanks!

I went for years with extreme shoulder pain. I had MRI's which showed little. Finally I couldn't take the pain anymore (it practically killed me to drive) (I also lived in front of a Computer at my job).

Went to Shoulder Specialist who X-Rayed my shoulder in totally different ways...I was bent and twisted and thought he was crazy...

It turned out I had a very large 'bone spur' on the back of of my shoulder..the shoulder has 2 tendons and one of my tendons was worn down to barely being a thread plus I had arthritis in my collar bone and all kinds of 'junk' floating around.

My Specialist operated and removed the spur, tendon, 2 inches of collar bone and cleaned the 'junk/floaters' in my shoulder.

Have you husband see a Shoulder Specialist.

Take Care.

**since the surgery my shoulder has been painfree...it felt strange to not be in pain..

I've been going through something similar (left shoulder) as your husband and I also sit/work at a computer all day long. I went to the Dr. and he said that I have a bad case of tendonitis in the shoulder. I've been taking NSAIDs for it but I find the best relief comes from icing the shoulder several times a night when I get home.

Sounds like it could be bone spurs chewing up the rotator cuff.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago for bone spurs and the rotator cuff looked like a shag rug. Was my left shoulder, had no injuries to my knowledge, it just happened over time then started crying and would not stop.

See an orthopedic doctor specializing in upper extremities.

If you wait too long there could be too much damage for a successful repair.
