Should you subpoena an officer to court for a traffic ticket in California Courts?

I am fighting a ticket for failure to stop at a 4 way in a residential neighborhood. I did stop. There was a car approaching from the East & one from the West; I had time to look both ways before I proceeded. I have postponed the hearing several times and the judge said I could subpoena the officer and his notes for the hearing. Should I just hope the officer does not show? If I subpoena him ....he will be more likely to appear on the court date? I would like to see his notes since it was in a residential area and he was either down the street (I never saw him until he pulled me over) or in someone’s driveway and I do not believe he had a clear enough view to have given a ticket. But if he doesn’t show then I win automatically. Any suggestions other then taking photos at the 4 way?
Thanks!
