Should we have more laws protecting good Samaritans?

I just read an article regarding a man who got hit by a pick up truck after pushing two eldery women whom he was helping cross the street out of the way getting cited for jaywalking. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine got arrested for assault after up a pretty bad fight between a friend of his and another guy. Aside from pushing the two people apart and keeping them there (at risk to his own safety, I might add) he used no force. His intention was to keep the guy who his friend was fighting from getting more injured and acted in a way that responsibly did that. This guy has now pressed charges on him and he got picked up driving his car for a warrant he didn't even know he had out. The guy has never had so much as a speeding ticket. Everyday I hear stories about people who acted in a reasonable and responsible manner, with the intent of helping out someone in need, getting in trouble for it. I'm starting to feel as though if I see someone in trouble, I can't help out because in doing so I risk legal action against myself (not to mention physical violence). If someone is helping a fellow person in a way that is reasonable, shouldn't they be protected under the law?

I know exactly how you feel! Even if I were seeing someone getting murdered or raped I feel as though I couldn't step in because I will get the pants sued off of me, or get cited for something crazy!

Depends the good samaritan was jaywalking.
I don't know if being in the side would of helped. Sometimes Good samaritans do more harm then good.
Its a shame are cops are not quality people with good sense.
Our Police are scary.
