Should we have an open, brutally honest debate on reorganizing taxes and

government spending? The tax system is, in appearance, overly complex.
It has heaps of loopholes and little tricks.
Most people feel overtaxed, yet revenue is insufficient to cover spending.

Should we let our usual ramblings aside and examine the whole matter openly, critically and honestly?
We could, for example, organize data on how are our taxes gathered, if they are distributed according to our political project and if they are sufficient.

We could also examine all government programs, see which work and which don't, and idenfity where waste is happening, and address it. We could cut on unneccessary red tape and save both time and money.

We could bipartisanly streamline the administration, if we identified enough waste we could reduce the deficit without actually making the programs we like disappear or without downsizing them too much.
