and raised there? The purpose of this competition is for countries to compete against one another with their actual players. However, tons of teams dished out citizenships to players from brazil in order to have them in their squad. these players were not born and raised there. a prime example is Portugal. they have deco and pepe. they are 100% brazilian and only obtained citizenship after the portuguese knew that they were great players. they do make the team a lot better and it's not fair to the countries that compete fair.
look at countries like sweden, germany, holland etc. all of these countries have players in their squads that were either born or raised in these countries. they did not add brazilian players in there in order to get better.
any team can give citizenship to anyone as long as he has not played for his native country. but do you really think that's fair? i think it undermines the competition itself.
