Should they do a "DB Kai" to every other shonen anime with a lot of filler?

What do you think? Should they take every other anime that was bogged down with filler, chop out the filler parts, and re-release it as a new series, like they did with Dragonball Kai?
 
Eh, I don't think so. That's effort that could be going toward something new. Not to mention that DBZ could be modded to look "new" in part because of its age. For series like Naruto and Bleach, it's pointless and futile.

Yu Yu Hakusho's length is pretty much perfect. No need to change that.

Recutting Kenshin would be pointless without the Jinchu arc from the manga to adapt. A "Brotherhood" revival might be nice, but I certainly don't see such a thing as realistic.
 
Yes and no I guess.

Fillers don't bother me that much. It's how filler is handled that gets to me. The ones that I can do away with are the ones that're suppose to be "funny". I get all the jokes and all, but they're pretty much just corny/not funny. And then a lot of times fillers tend to look hideous. I'm aware that artwork/animation is not great during canon episodes either (Heck, that's one of the main reasons why I can't stick with a lot of these shonen series now. Too inconsistent), but the stuff in filler tenRAB to take a huge nosedive compared to what was shown in a lot of the canon episodes.
 
Nope. There's no point, espicially if it means replacing the music and cast like what was done with Dragon Ball Kai. It's nice being able to have a new weekly series to keep up with but for the most part it's cheaply tossed together.

If anyone wants to go through the story quickly I'd suggest breaking out the original manga. Naruto's way better when you can chug down 2-3 volumes a day.

You got to be kidding me. Really, thats way to soon. WAY TOO SOON! Whats the point? Really? I hope this doesn't become a new fade for anime. Grabing things from the past, edit them and say its "NEW"! What?--NO!

Hmmm, no. So far on DBKai I'm not liking at all. Yeah, the fillers are pretty much gone. But the music, color and cuts they made are bad for my taste.
But hey, if they want to get an old anime series and bring it to this time, do it. But don't grabe something from the past, edited and say its "NEW". Come on, don't be lazy.

As I watched episode 47, I found kikuchi's score and the original direction of the episode so much better than this...and that's sad because there are a lot of things I like about the musical arrangement from the original dbz

I am interested to hear the music being played in goku's supa saiyajin speech next episode...we've seen dbz ad nauseum does the speech part have to be in spoiler?
 
DepenRAB on the fillers. Take DB Kai for instance. I agree with cutting out the filler that fails to tell even a simple story (aka fillers that just have the characters powering up and talking), but for the more fun fillers (like the bulk of The Great Saiyaman Saga or the two episode with Cyborg Tao), they should be kept in.
 
The only problem is, "fun" is relative. I personally think the Great Saiyaman saga got old after the second episode. Show Gohan becoming a super hero, let him save the day a time or two, and move on. Half the fans might enjoy seeing the filler left in, the other may not.
 
Jeez, this was announced nearly a year ago, and I'm just now hearing about this?

I wonder what episode they're at now...
 
There are a couple shojo anime I'd like to see this happen to, but I can't think of any shonen that would benefit other than DBZ. If you did this to the big three (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) I'm sure there would be a lot of internet complaining.
 
Can't speak for Bleach, but I'm pretty sure that One Piece and Naruto would benefit more from it, especially since most people I know kind of hate how the Enies Lobby and the Thriller Bark arc in the anime dragged out a bit. I know a few One Piece fans that said the anime adaptation of Enies Lobby and Thriller Bark kind of killed the enjoyment of the anime for them as they stick exclusively to the manga. Even Impel Down in the anime is suffering a bit from this, and I am kind of worrying about when the anime reaches the recent Marineford arc as well, considering that most of the chapters are two page spreaRAB, I'm actually curious to see how Toei paRAB this out.

As for Naruto, just cut the filler hell that lasted for 2 years and some other filler and we got a straight adaptation. Heard enough about Shippuden's fillers to know that they are padding the story.
 
^^^yeah, like, is One Piece still adapting at one or two chapters per episode? (haven't seen the anime in a while).
 
Half to a full chapter an episode, but the thing is ever since Amazon Lily Oda's rushed through the story so the anime's had time to pad things out a bit and let things settle, which the Saiyan arc failed to do in Dragon Ball Kai.

Naruto's filler arcs are pretty easy to avoid, as are with One Piece (although One Piece does suffer a lot from having the canon material stretched out).
 
Basically all that would need to be done for Bleach is to cut out the three long stretches of filler (the Bount arc, the New Captain arc, and the Zanpaktou/whatever the anime is currently doing arcs) and edit out the mod souls who stuck around after the Bount arc (along with some other references to the Bount arc).

Basically, nothing you can't already do or ignore (two of those filler stretches never even happened in the anime canon anyways).
 
They could probably cut the first 53 episodes down to about 10 lol.

I don't think we need a DB Kai for many series. I mean, part of the thing about Kai is that bits are redrawn and it's reedited into HD (as cheaply as possible, but still). That isn't necessary for most of these other long series, it would just be the exact same show with things cut out.

There are some series that they could do an "FMA: Brotherhood" for though.
 
In my mind, there's four ways to do an anime remake: "Kai", "Brotherhood", "Final Act" and "Ultimate"...and I think you know what corresponRAB to what.

Kenshin: An excellent choice for a Brotherhood (or maybe Ultimate). Considering how long it's been since the original series, I don't think a Final Act for the arc that was never adapted would be wise. I guess it would depend on the demand as to whether they ever will revisit this series at all.

Berserk: Hmm. This one has been a long time coming, but considering that the manga is still going (and for who knows how long with all the breaks Miura takes), it might not be the best choice to jump the gun. At the very least, there neeRAB to be some end in sight. When the chance for a Berserk remake comes up, a Brotherhood, Final Act, or even an Ultimate could all work. Going through the Golden Age arc again could be worthwhile, even if we've seen it all before. Or maybe they think it will be best to gloss over it or even skip the events entirely. As for Ultimate, I think Berserk really could work well as a bunch of high quality OVAs, and it certainly deserves it.
 
I feel like the first 50 episodes of Shippuden really could use a "Kai" treatment, however the rest of the story is fine, heck the two filler arcs so far have actually been pretty good and I felt really helped flesh out parts of the story. As for the original Naruto I feel like that was almost perfect or at least up until the filler arcs started. However since the filler arcs occured in the series after the cannon material for part 1 had ended there is really no need to make a new series but rather just not air those episodes.
