Should there be a education minimum to vote?

Obviously, history has shown that the current population of people who vote have made bad decision(s). Should there be a level, say Bachelors or Masters degree to be able to vote? Certainly, society don't let lower educated people people do research, cure illness or publish articles. Why should people with lower education levels choose who should run the country?

If you think I'm a bigot, or whatever you chose, you must agree the dean of all universities are bigots too. They won't let you do the things I've mentioned without the credentials.
Wakey, no I did not mention anything about women. After you do some research on the Islamic world, you may attempt to offend people.
Wakey, you potentially, could be one of the people I'm talking about.

You bring up a good point, but I gotta say no. Think of the people who HAVE to drop out of school to help their families. They won't get to vote and that doesn't give them much of an opportunity, does it? Others can't afford college. If we change the voting requirements, people are going to say "young enough for fighting but not enough for voting" again, and that's right, you should defend what you stand for. And the opinion of only the people well-off enough to be well educated unfortunately does not account for everyone, although it would be the ideal, today, your idea can't happen.

Simple- Because people can educate themselves about politics without ever earning a degree from a university. Not everyone has the time or resources to go through university. And not all who have obtained a degree are that intelligent or informed. Therefore it would create an unfair skew without providing a real benefit.

And that's a false syllogism, by the way- university deans aren't the ones who decide who gets to practice medicine or research, and publishing is the business of the journals themselves. None of which have anything to do with voting.

Well, political knowledge isn't based on schooling. Ideally, you could interview everyone and then determine their eligibility for voting. This is not practical, however.

And also, not democratic. Democracy isn't all good: If the people are stupid, then stupid things will be done. That is the flip-side of democracy. What if the majority votes for discriminating against a minority? That's still democracy, the majority vote has won fair and square.

Democracy is important: Everyone gets to vote. Wether the vote is smart or stupid is irrelevant, it is the will of the people.

Yes & no, because just because you don't have your masters doesn't meen your a bumbling idiot. I think if you are Republican you should take a test on Republican beliefes and same with Democrats. What I hate it when people are like yeah my father and his father and my fathers fathers father are all Republicans so I am too. I don't know a damn thing about what my party stand for but by golly, I'm a Republican!
