I smoke OUTSIDE in front of the apartment building every once in a while (I am not a constant smoker), the lady who sweeps the stairs INSIDE the building saw me smoking, so now everytime there is a cig butt on the ground, it must be mine. Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not. Anyway, I feel it's nobody's business if I smoke, so long as I am doing it outside, in a public place, the building does not belong to any of them, they are privately owned apartments. They complain about the cig butts and told me "Everyone in the building hates you because of the butts", and it's not like there's a pile out there, either. I do not think it's that bad. They also yell about how our car is parked (it sticks out too far), if we (or anyone else) leaves the garbage room door open (it's not even always us)...Should they just learn to mind their business?! How should I handle this?? I feel like they are on my case all the time. One neighbor even saw me on a bench smoking, not even on the apartment grounds and told me I had to leave because they wanted to sit there. I think as long as I am outside in a public place, I can smoke wherever I want and there are many butts, not just mine!!!
I should also mention this is in Israel where people have a tendency to be incredibly nosy and rude. (I'm American, but have noticed these people butt their noses in all the time and tell everyone what to do)
