considered wrong, or a...? ...personal opinion that exercises that person's freedom of speech and opinion?
Clarify: should expressing possibly unpopular and prejudiced beliefs in the negative about gender, sexuality, age, background, skin colour, etc, be considered and treated:
wrong, unfair, bigoted, unethical, bad
or
a personal opinion that is valid and okay to express, no matter how unpopular.
A girl in my class was teasing a boy and in the process, delivering some harsh lines about her stance on gay people: "gay people are disgusting. How could you even think that? It's not normal!"
I told her a number of times that there is nothing wrong with gay people and they have rights as she does, and she responded with: "Well my opinion is different to yours!" So it got me wondering about whether this sort of attitude is acceptable and tolerable.
